The Great Commission Still Calls: Why Scholarship Support Matters More Than Ever

The words of Jesus in Matthew 28 continue to echo across generations:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”

For the Ebed-Melech Foundation, this is not simply a scripture to be quoted — it is a mission to be lived.

Around the world, hundreds of aspiring Christian leaders, ministers, counselors, educators, missionaries, and faith-driven changemakers are answering the call to serve. Many have the passion, the purpose, and the willingness to learn, yet lack the financial resources needed to pursue faith-based education and leadership development on their own.

Today, more than 300 students from countries across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and other underserved regions have reached out to Ebed-Melech University seeking scholarships and sponsorship opportunities to continue their educational journey.

Many of these students are first-generation learners, ministry workers, community leaders, pastors, widows, missionaries, nonprofit founders, and individuals working to bring hope and transformation to communities facing poverty, instability, trauma, and limited educational access.

For them, education is not merely about earning a credential.

It is about becoming equipped to serve.

It is about building ministries, counseling families, teaching communities, supporting vulnerable populations, strengthening churches, and carrying the Gospel into places where hope is desperately needed.

The Ebed-Melech Foundation was created with this mission in mind — to remove barriers that prevent purpose-driven individuals from answering God’s call.

Under the leadership of Vice President of Philanthropy and Operations Sarah Elliott, the foundation is actively working to build partnerships with donors, churches, organizations, ministries, and Kingdom-minded supporters who believe the Great Commission still matters.

According to foundation leadership, the need continues to grow rapidly.

“Every scholarship represents more than tuition assistance. It represents a life equipped for service, leadership, ministry, and Kingdom impact. These students are not simply asking for help — they are answering a calling.”

The foundation’s scholarship initiatives help support students pursuing faith-based education, ministry leadership, counseling, coaching, nonprofit leadership, psychology, theology, community health, business leadership, and other service-centered disciplines through Ebed-Melech University’s fully online programs.

Many students applying for assistance come from regions where even modest tuition costs can be financially overwhelming due to economic hardship, currency instability, or limited employment opportunities.

Yet despite those obstacles, applications continue arriving from individuals determined to learn, grow, and serve others through biblical leadership and education.

The Ebed-Melech Foundation believes that the Church, global Christian community, and Kingdom-minded partners have an opportunity to participate directly in the fulfillment of the Great Commission by investing in the next generation of faith leaders around the world.

Scholarship support allows students to access:

  • Faith-based higher education
  • Leadership and ministry training
  • Counseling and wellness education
  • Digital learning resources
  • Christian mentorship and discipleship
  • Workforce and nonprofit leadership development
  • Kingdom-centered global learning communities

The foundation’s long-term vision is to create sustainable scholarship pathways capable of supporting students worldwide who have the calling to lead but not the financial means to pursue training independently.

As global demand for accessible Christian education continues to rise, the foundation hopes more partners will join the mission.

“The Great Commission was never meant to be carried by one person alone. It requires people willing to pray, give, build, teach, mentor, and invest in others. Every scholarship dollar becomes part of someone’s ministry story.”

The Ebed-Melech Foundation continues to invite churches, donors, organizations, and individuals who feel called to support faith-based learning and Kingdom impact to become part of the mission.

Because somewhere in the world, a future pastor, counselor, teacher, missionary, or community leader is waiting for the opportunity to say yes to the calling God has already placed on their life.
